History of Halloween
Here’s the thing about Halloween.
We haven’t always dressed up like our favorite superhero and gone door to door begging for candy.
Halloween originates in ancient Celtic culture of Ireland and Britain, where a festival called Samhain marked the end of the harvest fall.
During Samhain, they would honor the dead who had passed in the previous year.
The Celts believed the spirits of the dead roamed the streets on this night.
However, not all spirits were thought to be friendly.
So treats and gifts were left outside to keep the spirits happy, thus providing a plentiful harvest in the coming year.
This evolved into our modern day “Trick or Treating”
